IEEE

The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) is an association of electronic technology and information science engineers in the United States. It is the world’s largest non-profit professional technical society with more than 400,000 members. All over 160 countries. IEEE is committed to the development and research of electrical, electronic, computer engineering, and science-related fields. More than 900 industry standards have been formulated in the fields of aerospace, information technology, power, and consumer electronics products. High-impact international academic organization. There are already 55 colleges and universities in Beijing, Shanghai, Xi'an, Wuhan, Zhengzhou and other places in China that have established IEEE Student Branches.

On May 30, 2019, IEEE issued a statement to respond to the increased list of US export control regulations. On June 3, Huawei's audit qualification was restored.

On September 6, 2019, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) annual media exchange meeting was held in Beijing. Dr. Dong Jing, a senior member of IEEE, an associate researcher at the Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and a director of the Chinese Artificial Intelligence Society, shared the development trend of intelligent image recognition technology and how to contain image content tampering through AI technology.

Development History

AIEE (American Institute of Electrical Engineers), two predecessors of IEEE, was established in 1884, and IRE (Institute of Radio Engineers) was established in 1912. AIEE's interests are mainly wired communications (telegraph and telephone), lighting and power systems. IRE is mostly concerned with radio engineering, which consists of 2 smaller organizations, the Wireless and Telegraph Engineers Association and the Radio Association. With the rise of electronics in the 1930s, electrical engineering has generally become a member of IRE, but the application of tube technology has become so widespread that the boundaries of the IRE and AIEE fields have become increasingly blurred. After World War II, the competition between the two organizations became increasingly fierce. In 1961, the leaders of the two organizations decided to merge the two, and finally merged to establish IEEE on January 1, 1963.

IEEE (American Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) was formed by the merger of AIEE (American Institute of Electrical Engineers) and IRE (American Institute of Radio Engineers) on January 1, 1963. It is the largest professional society in the United States. IEEE is a non-profit scientific society with more than 360,000 members in nearly 175 countries. In the fields of electrical and electronic engineering, computer and control technology, IEEE publications account for nearly 30% of the world's literature. IEEE also hosts or co-organizes more than 300 technical conferences each year.

IEEE is a non-profit scientific society. This organization is the main authority in the academic fields of international computer, telecommunications, biomedicine, power and consumer electronics. In the fields of electrical and electronic engineering, computer and control technology, the literature published by IEEE accounts for nearly 1/3 of the world.

IEEE has been committed to promoting the development and application of electrical technology in theory. As a catalyst for technological innovation, IEEE supports the needs of its members through event planning and services in a wide range of fields.

As the world's largest professional academic organization, IEEE plays an important role in the field of academic research and also attaches great importance to the formulation of standards. IEEE specializes in the IEEE Standard Association (IEEE-SA, IEEE Standard Association), which is responsible for standardization. Under the IEEE-SA, there is the Standards Bureau, and there are two sub-committees under the Standards Bureau, namely the New Standards Committees and Standards Review Committees. The contents of IEEE standard formulation include electrical and electronic equipment, test methods, original devices, symbols, definitions, test methods and other fields.

IEEE currently has 42 professional societies or committees in charge of standardization. In order to obtain the qualification to preside over the standardization work, each professional society must submit a document to IEEE-SA describing the process for the society to select candidate proposals to submit to IEEE-SA and the method used to supervise the working group. There are currently 25 societies actively participating in the development of standards, and each society will set up several committees according to its own field to formulate actual standards. For example, the familiar IEEE 802.11, 802.16, 802.20 and other series of standards are chaired by the 802 committee of the IEEE Computer Society. IEEE 802 is also known as LAN/MAN Standards Committee (LMSC, LAN/MAN Standards Committee), devoted to studying the physical layer and MAC layer specifications of LAN and MAN.

Construction purpose

Since its establishment, IEEE has been committed to promoting the development and application of electrical technology in theory. As a catalyst for technological innovation, IEEE supports the needs of its members through event planning and services in a wide range of fields. Promote the exchange of science and technology and information from computer engineering, biomedicine, communications to electric power, aerospace, consumer electronics and other technical fields, carry out education and training, formulate and recommend electrical and electronic technology standards, and reward members with scientific and technological achievements.
