Xilinx Corporation (Xilinx) announced a unique new high-speed addition to the Virtex UltraScale+ family of products - the Virtex UltraScale+ VU57P FPGA. This is a new high-bandwidth memory (HBM) device capable of transferring large amounts of data at extremely fast speeds, low latency and very low power consumption. The new Virtex UltraScale+ VU57P FPGA combines a truly powerful set of features ideal for many of the most demanding applications in the data center and in wired and wireless communications.

With dramatically increased memory bandwidth and capacity compared to discrete commercial memories such as DDR4, the Xilinx Virtex UltraScale+ VU57P FPGA is an excellent choice for latency-sensitive workloads where high-speed data throughput and fast memory are key requirements. It combines power-efficient computing capabilities with extremely high memory bandwidth and capacity of up to 460GB/s, while utilizing the state-of-the-art PAM4 high-speed transceiver to achieve twice the transfer rate compared to mainstream 25G transceivers. The integrated HBM controller and AXI port switcher (switch) provide continuous memory access to the entire 16G HBM.
Unique to the Virtex UltraScale+ HBM FPGA is the integrated AXI port switcher (toggle). It supports access to any memory location from any AXI port, saving 250,000 lookup tables, 370,000 flip-flops and over 4W of power consumption. The switch not only reduces design size and simplifies design, but also helps achieve timing convergence, speeding time to market and reducing operational costs (OPEX).
In addition, the new devices integrate high-speed connectivity such as 100G Ethernet with RS-FEC modules, 150G Interlaken, PCIe Gen4 and more to help simplify design efforts and speed time to market.
Applications for the new Xilinx devices include:
1. Compute acceleration: Pre-processing data is key to achieving optimal performance. Unlike fixed-function compute devices, the Virtex UltraScale+ VU57P has adaptive logic and 460GB/s of HBM bandwidth to select, convert and sort data to optimize input for target gas pedals. Using its high-speed PAM4 transceiver, the new Xilinx FPGA helps maximize throughput and system performance.
2. Next-Generation Firewall: Network operators need non-disruptive, highly reliable network availability for intelligent management while securing data and preventing malware attacks on enterprise networks. scalability. With 16G HBM, security applications can manage multiple lookup tables while buffering and reordering network flows. 58G PAM4 transceivers support the latest optical communication standards, enabling the higher throughput required by next-generation firewalls.
3. QoS-enabled switches and routers: The Virtex UltraScale+ VU57P FPGA with 16G HBM provides Nx400G/200G/100G/50G switches with a 400G data path pipeline and traffic manager for QoS functionality. 58G PAM4 transceivers enable The 58G PAM4 transceiver is capable of establishing connections using the latest optical communication standards, doubling the transfer rate to external devices. The lookup table and traffic manager queues are implemented within the HBM DRAM. Because power/heat requirements were fully considered in the design, the Virtex UltraScale+ VU57P FPGA-based switches and routers were able to choose a capless package to achieve higher performance with simpler heat dissipation, which is important for data center and telecom infrastructures.
